Red Hook Winter Farmer's Market

Saturday, January 10th, was the second of three Red Hook Winter Farmer's Markets. The market has been very well received by people in the community and this one was even more bustling than the first. Awesome Farm was there selling stewing hens, chicken feet, eggs, rooster feather earrings, t-shirts, pelts from our lambs, and wool. We just received our wool from the processor the day before the market, so it was its public debut. Owen and I are thrilled with how the wool turned out. We had it processed right here in Red Hook at Hudson Valley Sheep and Wool and they did a beautiful job (and told us we gave them beautiful fleece to work with). We now have skeins of grey and off-white as well as roving in grey. It is soft and very nice to work with.

The market has vendors from farms and businesses all from the town of Red Hook. It is a great community experience and has been a wonderful opportunity to interact with the other farmers and vendors and also with the residents of Red Hook. The next market will be on February 14th. It takes place at the Elmendorph Inn in Red Hook. We hope to see you there.
